City of York Council is inviting Haxby residents to share their views on proposed village improvements during a series of community drop-in sessions throughout November and early December.

The council has secured funding from the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority’s Mayoral Investment Fund to develop projects that will enhance the area’s vibrancy. Councillor Pete Kilbane, Executive member for Economy and Culture, stated that positive conversations with residents have identified areas for improvement within existing funding.
Proposed works include repairing the bandstand mosaic at Ethel Ward playing field, increasing public benches, reviewing opportunities along The Village to enhance its character and address parking concerns on The Green, and identifying a quiet cycle route. These improvements could be delivered in 2027.
Beyond the initial phase, the council aims to create a long-term plan for projects aligned with future housing and rail station developments. Councillor Kilbane emphasised the importance of community input for future funding opportunities.
Drop-in events are scheduled at various locations including Oaken Grove Community Centre and Haxby Memorial Hall on dates ranging from Monday 9 November to Saturday 5 December. Residents can also participate by completing an online survey at www.york.gov.uk/Haxby or a hard copy available at Haxby Explore and West Offices. Submissions can be posted or emailed to regeneration@york.gov.uk. Alternative formats for the survey can be requested via cycaccessteam@york.gov.uk or by calling customer services.
The deadline for all submissions is 9 December 2026. Residents can also sign up for project updates via email by contacting regeneration@york.gov.uk.
