Students from Cleethorpes Academy visited the Sea Road development in Cleethorpes to learn about the wide range of careers involved in major construction projects.

Contractors Lindum Group hosted selected Year 7, 8 and 9 students, offering them a close-up look at a live construction site. The visit aimed to educate pupils on the skills, teamwork, and diverse job roles required to transform construction plans into reality.
The construction sector offers numerous career opportunities, from operating machinery and site work to building design, project management, and development planning. For the students, this experience provided a chance to understand the scale of such projects and consider potential career paths.
Year 7 student Darcey noted the significant work and financial investment involved in large-scale developments, a realisation many students shared. Harry, also in Year 7, learned about the construction process and pathways into the sector, reaffirming his ambition to work in construction and drive a digger. He was particularly interested to learn about apprenticeships as a route into the industry.
Holly, a Year 8 student, was surprised by the number of people involved in delivering a project like Sea Road, highlighting how different roles and skills collaborate from initial planning to on-site execution.
“

"The students were highly engaged throughout their visit to our Sea View site, demonstrating genuine curiosity and enthusiasm. They listened attentively, asked insightful questions and actively participated in discussions. It was particularly rewarding to incorporate careers conversations into the tour, giving students a first-hand insight into the work taking place on-site and the wide range of career opportunities available within the construction industry. Their positive attitude and eagerness to learn made the experience thoroughly enjoyable, and we hope to welcome some of them back in the future as the next generation of construction professionals."
