Two major routes in North East Lincolnshire have undergone substantial improvement and resurfacing works, concluding just before the onset of winter. These essential schemes on the A18 Barton Street and the A1173, between the King’s Road roundabout and Kiln Lane roundabout in Immingham, were completed on schedule.
The A18 improvement programme involved extensive resurfacing between Barnoldby Le Beck roundabout and Ashby Hill roundabout. This was complemented by essential maintenance, including localised road repairs, drainage upkeep, vegetation clearance, and road sign cleaning. This project concluded ahead of its planned completion date, allowing the road to reopen to traffic a day earlier than anticipated.
In Immingham, the A1173 improvement scheme focused on significant repairs and maintenance to North Beck Bridge, which spans the North Beck Drain. The works included repairs to the bridge deck, re-waterproofing, reconstruction of the footpath, repairs to damaged safety barriers, and the replacement of expansion joints.
Further enhancements along the A1173 route encompassed road resurfacing between the King’s Road roundabout and Kiln Lane roundabout, including the bridge area. The scheme also delivered drainage repairs, kerb replacements, new road markings and studs, and vegetation clearance.
These improvements are expected to prevent the recurrence of potholes, which were frequently reported on the A18 section over the past year. The upgrades aim to extend the lifespan of both routes and provide motorists with safer and smoother journeys for the foreseeable future.
