The new 'Ask a Midwife' service, available from Monday, 19 October, offers a secure and free way for expectant mothers to receive personalised care advice throughout their pregnancy and for up to six weeks after giving birth. The service is NHS approved.
Emily Cook, Patient Engagement Lead Midwife, highlighted the benefits of the new system. "Our social media channels are full of maternity information, advice, news about how to keep you and your family healthy, and service updates," she stated. "However, with Ask A Midwife through the NHS App and Patients Know Best you’ll be able to ask non-urgent questions and receive personalised advice from a midwife about your care specifically, as it won’t be available to anyone else."
Cook added that the service will also keep all conversations securely in one place, allowing users to refer back to them and access support when needed. "It’ll also keep all your conversations securely in one place, so you can keep referring back to them if you need to and give you access to support when you need it."
Individuals ready to use the service can sign up for the PKB portal online and proceed to NHS login. Those who already have a PKB account for other services can simply share their record with the 'Ask a Midwife' team.
