The council is continuing its mission to hold businesses accountable for flouting permit requirements when carrying out essential repairs and upgrades. These recent fines follow an earlier penalty issued last month for incorrectly placed traffic lights on Clee Crescent where no work was taking place.
One of the latest fines was issued in Laceby due to inadequate access routes for pedestrians. The second penalty was for the incorrect positioning of traffic management along Carr Lane in Grimsby, which led residents to believe a bus stop was closed. The council took action after receiving complaints from the public.
Councillor Oliver Freeston, the Leader of North East Lincolnshire Council, stated that the authority is committed to ensuring businesses comply with permit conditions. He acknowledged the necessity of repairs and upgrades for residents but emphasised the council's effort to minimise disruption.
He added: “This is us, as an authority, ensuring we can do all we can to hold businesses to account when there are failures to comply with permit requirements to carry out work. Yes, we all appreciate that repairs and upgrades are required and will ultimately benefit residents. However, we’re trying to minimize disruption as much as possible, and this will carry on.”
Council officers confirmed that inspections are regularly carried out, and fines are issued where necessary to ensure compliance and minimise public inconvenience.
