The Waverley Medical Centre, a purpose-built £3 million NHS facility located within the Olive Lane development in Rotherham, has officially opened its doors. The centre is run by Gateway Primary Care and offers a modern, welcoming environment with high-quality clinical facilities designed to meet the needs of Waverley’s expanding population.
Jean McVann from Gateway Primary Care stated that the centre embodies the core values of equality, inclusion, compassion, dignity, and respect, which have been central to the organisation for 25 years. She expressed commitment to becoming a valued part of the community and ensuring all patients feel welcomed, respected, and well cared for.
Chris Edwards, Chief Executive of NHS South Yorkshire, expressed delight at the opening, highlighting the facility as a significant investment in primary care for Waverley. He emphasised its role in providing a high-quality environment for patients and staff, and its importance in ensuring local access to excellent healthcare as the community grows.
Cllr Chris Read, Chair of the Rotherham Together Partnership, acknowledged the facility as a long-awaited addition, underscoring the collaborative effort involving the Council, health services, and Harworth staff. He noted that this project, alongside upgrades to other GP practices across the borough, aims to improve access to local doctors and bolster high streets.
A spokesperson for Harworth Group expressed pride in the new facility and the community created at Waverley, particularly the Olive Lane development which now serves as the heart of this vibrant new community.
