An art day focused on celebrating Grimsby has been held for the Care Leavers community and their children, as part of the Town of Culture GY28 bid.

The Corporate and Community Parenting fortnight featured a fun-filled day of arts and crafts on October 30th, supporting the Town of Culture GY28 bid. North Yorkshire based artist Chris Layfield led a themed art day for the Care Leavers community and their children in Grimsby.
The activities encouraged participants to explore what they love most about their hometown and their favourite places to visit. Chris Layfield is known for his engaging doodle story art workshops, which he delivers across the UK, making art accessible and exciting for all ages.
The day provided an opportunity for families to express themselves through imagination and storytelling. The completed art will be displayed for the Care Leavers and their children before being returned to them, aiming to continue the GY28 conversations.
“

"The art day was a great way to involve the care experienced young people with the GY28 Bid. They were able to work together to show their love of Grimsby, whilst making lasting memories with their family."

Ann Marie Matson · Director of Children’s Services
As part of the GY28 campaign, the art day supports the town’s cultural ambitions by inspiring the next generation to express their imagination and artistic talent.
